Jaeger-LeCoultre sponsors the 43rd Chaplin Award Gala honoring Morgan Freeman- As a major sponsor and partner of the Film Society of Lincoln Center since 2013, Jaeger-LeCoultre was proud to be part of one of their most prestigious events: the Annual Chaplin Award Gala. Last evening, the Film Society of Lincoln Center honored Academy Award–winning actor Morgan Freeman and celebrated his remarkable talent and commitment to film. Presenters included Robert De Niro, Matthew Broderick, Danny Glover, Helen Mirren and Jerry Schatzberg, who spoke of the extraordinary film career and achievements of Morgan Freeman.
After receiving his Award, Morgan Freeman declared on stage “Knowing my name is now on a list that includes so many legends of cinema that I admire, is something I will always cherish.” Jaeger-LeCoultre CEO Daniel Riedo attended the Gala dinner and also welcomed actress Kiera Chaplin who chose to wear a Rendez- Vous Moon for this occasion. The Film Society’s Annual Gala began in 1972 and honored Charlie Chaplin, who returned to the U.S. from exile to accept the commendation.
Since then, the award has been renamed for Chaplin, and has honored many of the film industry’s most notable talents, including Alfred Hitchcock, Billy Wilder, Laurence Olivier, Federico Fellini, Elizabeth Taylor, Bette Davis, James Stewart, Robert Altman, Martin Scorsese, Diane Keaton, Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks, Michael Douglas, Sidney Poitier, Catherine Deneuve, Barbra Streisand, and last year, Robert Redford. Since 2013, Jaeger-LeCoultre has been partnering with the Film Society of Lincoln Center, America’s pre-eminent New York based non-profit film organization.
As part of this association, the Film Society of Lincoln Center and Jaeger-LeCoultre launched the Filmmaker in Residence initiative. Each year, an artist will have the opportunity to focus on developing or refining new works in New York City. In addition, the partnership also extends to the New York Film Festival, a 17-day celebration showcasing the best and most significant films. of the year from around the world (from September 30th to October 16th, 2016)
